One of the oldest and most trusted brands in sports betting, bwin started as betandwin.com, launched in Austria and quickly expanding to Sweden and Gibraltar, with more than 20 million users across a dozen markets.
Operated at the corporate level by bwin Interactive Gaming AG Group, the bwin online sportsbook as we know it launched in 2006 at sports.bwin.com, operated by ElectraWorks Limited and licensed in Gibraltar.
What followed was a series of partnerships and mergers that muddied the waters at the top, starting with a 2011 merger with PartyGaming, of PartyPoker notoriety. After a bidding war between gaming giants 888 Holdings and GVC Holdings, GVC won with a £1.1 billion bid, and the Isle of Man-based gaming titan acquired the bwin brand in 2016.
Despite the corporate reshuffling, from soup to nuts, bwin has stayed true to its mission—great selection, easy interface, 24/7 action. It’s easy to see this platform becoming a favorite for both sports betting newbies and veterans making bwin their go-to sportsbook, either in desktop or mobile form.
bwin Sportsbook Desktop Browser Betting Platform
The first thing you notice about the bwin desktop platform is that they have opted for a dark background of blacks and dark grays with light text. This is good for contrast, as well as the visually-impaired, but other people will have to take this aesthetic on personal preference.
The other major brand color at bwin is yellow, the color that signifies gold in a web context. It’s especially prominent in link microinteractions, as well as the “Register” button, beckoning from the upper right beside the “LogIn” button for new users to create an account.
Yellow also features prominently on the page-centered scrolling feature banner, which advertises hot games, promotions, and responsible gaming. Not only do pops of yellow highlight the headlines, but a yellow progress bar at the bottom of the banner lets you know how much more time you have with this advertisement before it scrolls to the next one. Convenient.
The bwin logo doesn’t take up much space in the upper left—there is plenty of room for a top horizontal menu bar that allows you to scroll through sports betting, live betting, casino, and other gaming options available at bwin.com.
Below that horizontal menu is another horizontal menu that lists the sports available for betting, helpfully indicated not only by words but by icons—a tennis ball icon for tennis, basketball icon for basketball, etc. These visual signifiers are enhanced by the microinteractions that cause the icons to light up in yellow when you hover over it, or stays yellow when selected. This graphic menu also features helpful quick links to a search bar, favorite games, and “my bets.”
Moving further down the site, it’s easy to appreciate how much detail bwin incorporated on the landing page without sacrificing coherence. Live football matches with current scores and “Bet Now” options, indicated by both team names and colored jersey icons, are listed with space for about three games, but white scroll arrows allow you to toggle through all games in progress within the same limited space.
The space is limited because the right side of the screen is taken up by a static betslip, which is always a welcome feature because you can monitor your action at any time, from anywhere on the site. The bet slip also features a “My Bets” section. If you have no bets, it’s easy to see graphic tiles with quick links to other game offerings, like slots, blackjack, or live-dealer roulette.
Scroll down from the main field, and left hand menus feature highlights and top sports, while the center field offers live highlights and upcoming events with horizontal sub-menu bars to toggle between different sports. The upcoming events feature moneyline betting odds that you can use to bet with one click.
bwin Sportsbook Mobile App Betting Platform
The bwin online sportsbook offers an integrated mobile app for both iOS and Android devices. Your account information, live bets, and bankroll transfer from the desktop browser platform to the mobile app, and vice versa, along with your credentials.
There’s a lot more white space on the mobile app than on the desktop platform. The black-and-yellow theme colors are preserved in the headers and footers, but the white background with dark lettering actually works a lot better on the smaller screen.
This is especially the case considering bwin has to get a lot of information in a very small space if it wants the app to be as intuitive as the desktop platform.
Overall, it does an admirable job. The big “Sign In” and “Register” buttons dominate the header. In the white main body, you can scroll live games with jersey icons, one at a time instead of three at a time, with a touchscreen scrolling interface. Below, you can scroll through featured competitions, most with “bet now features.”
The white field also has a touchscreen-scrolling top menu to scroll between featured games, coupons, and more.
The black footer has five useful links—an A-Z menu, a link to live games in progress, a link to your betslip, and my bets (and also a direct link to slot games). The betslip and “my bets” light up with a yellow circle when you have a notification about one of your bets.
It would be nice if it utilized visual “ball” icons to incorporate more links on the landing screen. It would also be nice if a “search” bar was obvious from the landing page. All in all, though, it’s an intuitive and attractive app interface.

bwin Sportsbook Customer Support
bwin’s “Help and Contact” link is pretty small, located in the site footer. It would be nice if it were easy to find, but once you do find it, you have to select from a list of topics which directs you to troubleshooting FAQ.
After a few attempts at troubleshooting, the site asks if you require further help. If you select “Yes,” you will be directed to a contact page that offers 24/7 live chat or email support options, as well as links to help pages and a link to DM bwin directly on Twitter. There is also a link where you can upload documents if bwin asks for document verification.
The bwin 24/7 customer support number is 00442039380862. You won’t find it on the contact page.
Responsible Gaming at bwin Sportsbook
Bwin’s “Responsible Gaming” section is featured in the scrolling banner on the landing page, but since it scrolls, it may not be immediately accessible. The only other place it appears is in the footer.
The Responsible Gaming section is about one page long and features content about betting for entertainment instead of compulsion and about sticking to a budget. bwin also expresses its commitment to integrity, fairness, and reliability.
